Before travelling to any country there’s a few things that are a must that need to go in your suitcase. So we’ve put together a list of things to tick off your check-list when travelling to Italy.
A language book : usually a phrase book of some sorts would be ideal as you never know when you may need to ask an important question should you wander off the main streets of Italy. We’d recommend Italian for Dummies. This is a book you should have a little read of beforehand, and it’s a good read for a plane ride. It takes you right from basics, and helps you to pronounce words by using the phonetic spelling.
A map : even for those who don’t like to plan, and like to see wherever their flip flopped feet take them. It’s a good idea to have a map of the local of area of Italy that you’re travelling in. Or for the more modern travellers a GPS system. These can locate tourist attractions, good restaurants and landmarks. Knowing where you’re going is good to cut out ‘lost time’ just think of all that extra time you can spend getting to see the wonderful sights of Italy!
Euros: in the tourist areas credit cards are usually accepted. Although, always ask first before settling down to dinner, or attempting to buy goods! Always carry euros on you, enough for your activities at least. Should you stray off the tourist travel path, it’s assumed that most places will only take euros.
Comfortable shoes : if you’re going to cities such as Florence, which is very much a walking city, the cobble stones can be uneven. So make sure you’ve a pair of comfortable shoes that have worn before hand so they don’t rub!
Camera : you can’t go to a beautiful place without having a camera! Whether it be the great sunsets of Venice, the leaning tower of Pisa, Pietrasanta’s small cobbled streets or even the emerald waters of the Isle of Elba – get snap happy!
