Villa Guamo is a retreat that is indeed very memorable; with spacious interiors and exteriors, there’s a peaceful place in Guamo for every guest.
The owners have recently restored this villa taking into consideration what they’ve experienced as past holiday makers – resulting in delightfully stylish, spacious and home from home surroundings. The interior of the villa is a contrast of modern and antique; they’ve kept the terracotta titled floors, and beamed ceilings but have ensured that the villa is equipped with modern amenities such as en suites with air con and a fully equipped kitchen with a traditional Aga oven.
Guamo is ideal for those travelling with families, as great attention to detail has been paid. For example, the 20 x 5 metre swimming pool is fenced making it safe and secure for small children. There is a large indoor and outdoor dining place where you can spend time with the family indulging in some local cuisine or relaxing with a glass of local wine whilst basking in the sun, and taking in the greenery of the gardens.
Staying at Guamo is perfect if you want a quiet stay, as it’s situated in a tranquil and sleepy setting, inside Nottolini park. It takes its name from an architect who built the neoclassical monument aqueduct that runs along the boundary of the estate, and is popular with those who love walking and jogging in peaceful surroundings.
Still, if you want to experience some more Italian culture, you’re only 8kms away from Lucca. It’s a charming town, surrounded by walls, (so be sure to leave the car parked out side) and you can stroll around at your own leisure; taking in the views of the historic monuments, art galleries and churches. Birth place to the famous opera singer Puccini,Caffe Di Simo (where Puccini and friends went) is worth a visit. You can rent a bike to see the town, or take a walk on top of the walls to experience a view from above – either way, you’ll get lost in the culture of the place.
And if beaches are more your thing, then the golden beaches of Versilia are only 35km away. They’re are known for their long and wide sandy beaches, which are surrounded by Apuan Alpes giving the beaches particularly glorious weather. There are also plenty of opportunities to go hiking, shopping, bar hopping, and taste delicious seafood around Versilia, so be sure to explore this wonderful sea side atmosphere!
