Gambassi Terme in the Tuscan countryside
Gambassi Terme is a place where people go to reconnect with the countryside. It’s located in the Italian region of Tuscany and is 35km southwest of Florence. The town boast an excellent environmental habitat, with pine woods and copses covering 60% of the terrain. TO ensure the habitat enriched land is protected a project called ‘Dolce Campagna, Antiche Mura’ has been set up where people can go mountain biking and horse riding and hill walking.
The town is most famous for thermal springs which are said to have healing properties. The waters contain sulphates, alkaline salts, and sodium bicarbonate which are recommended for the treatment of the digestive system! The best time to visit is April to October.
The town’s economy is made up of food and related industries such as the production of cereals and grapes, so there will be plenty of opportunities to taste the local produce of Italy.
If you decided that the rolling hills, vast greenery and hot springs are not enough then San Gimignano is only 20km away. The town is perhaps most famous for its’ towering towers. In all, 72 were built but now only 15 remain which are fortunately unbroken or cropped. These impressive buildings which date back to the 13th century give the town an amazing view, one that you have to see!
